![]() ![]() I'd always wanted to see the legendary blue-eyed soul duo Hall & Oates, so I finally decided I wasn't going to miss out again - and when I learned Tears for Fears would be opening, it was a total no-brainer. It's certainly good for a laugh!ĭaryl Hall & John Oates / Tears for Fears, Q Arena, Cleveland They've been playing here and there throughout Ohio over the past year - If you get a chance to see 'em, I highly recommend it. OK, so maybe these guys aren't legends, except perhaps in the realm of Mock 'n' Roll (I just made that term up), with the '90s classic "Three Little Pigs," but this was far and away the most hysterical rock concert I've ever attended. Green Jelly (pronounced Jello), Cleveland Agora The concert featured a stellar power trio playing Belew solo cuts and King Crimson classics to perfection, including KC tracks like "Elephant Talk" and "Level Six." Legendary innovative guitarist Adrian Belew is hailed for his work with Frank Zappa, David Bowie, and of course, King Crimson. The Adrian Below Trio, Beachland Ballroom, Cleveland An incredible guitarist and really enjoyable show with some high school friends. In any event, Phil and the boys put on a stellar performance of Glass Harp classics from the early '70s like "Can You See Me" and "Changes (In the Heart of My Own True Love)", and Keaggy proved that at 65, he still has his chops. Regional legends from my hometown of Youngstown and featuring legendary guitarist Phil Keaggy, having never seen them almost seemed like blasphemy (though I'm not sure Keaggy would appreciate my use of that term here). Like many of the bands I would see in 2017, Glass Harp was one who I didn't know if I'd have many more chances to see. ![]() Glass Harp, DeYor Center for the Performing Arts (the former Powers Auditorium), Youngstown There were quite a few of them! Check out the list and my reviews of each show to relive the music! I did pretty good with seeing a few legends outside the summer months too, so I thought this weekend was a good time to review my musical highlights of 2017. I'm a little late with this, seeing as we're already a couple weeks into the new year, but as Facebook reminded me, this weekend marks a year since I kicked off my 2017 Legends Tour (aka the Summer Legends Tour, since most of the shows were in the summer). ![]()
